Dear Family and Friends,
I greet you and the church in the name of God our Father in heaven. My name is Keith Mingle Cashmus from Ghana, currently in South Africa embarking on God’s mission with a non governmental Christian organization called Youth With A mission. The main priority is to know God and make Him known through out the entire world. Before Jesus Christ left this world he gave Christians the greatest commission, to go into the world and make disciples of all nations( Mathew 28:19). My purpose in writing you this letter is to share with you what God has done in my life and to increase your faith and trust in the Lord our God, even in times when there seems to be no hope. I know as Christians; tribulations, trials and temptations are inevitable in our Christian walk. In order to continue to trust and have faith in our Lord during such situations we need to exalt Him by testifying of His greatness through our testimonies to the world. I find it such a great pleasure to share such good news with you. I pray God will touch and be with you as you read this letter. But before I precede, I will like to give you a jest of my background as to where I was and where God has brought me so far.

I was born into a family with no moral backgrounds, as a matter of facts I am the one and only child of my parents. At the age of 4, my parents were divorced which led to me never seeing my mom to this day. I lived with my father for a few years until he was arrested for drugs and an illegal business he engaged in. This caused me to move into family friend’s house. Eventually, I ended up living on the streets because of the financial crisis the family that I was living with was going through. Life became like a nightmare I had no parents, no food, no place to sleep and not even a blanket to cover myself against the cold weather, and not even a
mother’s love. I lived on the streets for about 4 years, with most of the times no food and no passion,. I was torn apart into the world, trying to find love in the wrong places to fill the emptiness in my heart. Life was so hard, I felt useless and cursed each day, the day I was born, and anything surrounding my birth. To the extent I tried committing suicide several times. Then in the midst of this situation, I met this benevolent Christian women on the street one time while I was begging for food and money. She began prophesying in my life and told me God is going to use me mightily for his kingdom around the globe through my testimony. Later on she enrolled me into a school, then spoke to me about Jesus Christ and his unconditional love for me and the plans God has for me and my life. This really was hard for me to believe because I felt if truly this God of this woman truly loved me, as she said, why would he allow my parents to be divorced and make me go through all this pains and sufferings, for I felt rejected, depressed, abandoned and not loved by anyone all I kept asking is where was this God when I was going through all this situations. So of course, I never accepted this Jesus of this lady. After senior high school, I got a decent job as a telecommunications executive which paid pretty well. I got my own flat and life became very good for I was making enough money to buy whatever I wanted, yet there was this emptiness inside me. I tried going to clubs, womanizing, and doing all sought of crazy stuff to bury this hole of emptiness in my heart which never healed. However, after roaming around for a long time trying to find love and happiness ,I ended in a church which in I finally gave my whole life and heart to Christ. I got involved in many activities in the church such choir group, a young man organization called, pillars of strength, etc. through which God healed the emptiness in me and restored me as a son.

In the year 2008, I felt God was calling me to come follow Him and put my whole trust into action by letting go of my work and my flat to come serve Him and reach out to the youth true my testimony. Honestly, giving up all this materials I have possessed within this short period was hard for me, however, I chose to obey him by blessing people with all my belongings and coming to follow Christ and making Him known , which lead me to, Youth With A Mission Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa to do mission work. This is a six month course in which during the first 3 months you have a personal relationship with God and working with the community.

Then the next 3month you travel around preaching the word of God and helping with communities. My outreach lead me to Mauritius, India. Here God used those testimonies of my life to reach out to minister to those who are also in the same situation I was in. This was an eye opening experience which made me put faith and trust into action. I had to overcome my past and bring the lost home.

Currently, I am a base Staff at Jeffrey’s Bay Youth With A Mission for the July Arts Discipleship Training School, along with my Street Kids Program. I am reaching out to those in the community who also are street kids. God has used my past to be able to teach others about Him through my pain. With the little money I have, I buy food for the homeless, and share the word of God. This allows me to share my testimony to those kids and be a inspiration. These kids also remind me its not who you are, where your from, but where your going in Christ. God gives hope for the future, and power for the present. Now I believe, those who obey God and follow His plan, experience, His provision. I have learned that the most intelligent way to live is to follow God’s dream because the happiest people in the world are the ones who don't live for themselves, but for others.

My reason for sharing this all with you is for my future plans God has now placed in my life. His new plan for me is to go into the States to work and pursue music so that I can reach out to others. In order to do this, I am moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan this December. I will be working for 8 months and then enrolling into a college for training. I believe if God gives you a potential, you need to explore it fully to be able to give God the glory and reach out to people through your full potential and I feel God is calling me into music for now. In order to do this, I need your help, prayers, and support. This trip provides an opportunity to meet the physical and spiritual needs. More than anything, I would value your prayers for pursuing this dream
and those whose lives will be touched by God through my testimony. I believe that God answers prayers, and I’m asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, and financial support. Just knowing that you will be praying will give me peace as I go into an unfamiliar place.
Beyond your prayers, if you feel God has laid on your heart to join me reaching out to the world by financially supporting my mission work, I would humbly accept your help. At the moment , and I want to extend an invitation to you to participate. To make it as easy as possible, I’ve have included the process for giving and a self-addressed envelope. This is a journey that God has called me to and I would greatly appreciate any level of support you are able to offer.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this letter, and if you have any questions, please let me know. Take care, and I hope to hear from you soon!
